Jobs at Winter Resorts

Nannies!! Here is an opportunity not to be missed! Imagine working and having fun at the same time - in a top class holiday resort!

Despite the huge amount of growth to Val d'Isere over the last 60 years it has still retained its identity as a mountain village, set in the French alps, with traditional Savoyard architecture. The centre of Val d'Isere village has been designed with people rather than traffic in mind and is a haven for numerous shops, bars, restaurants and hotels. Val d'Isere is not just one village but rather it is made up of the central village plus six hamlets. Walk round and you will discover Le Fornet, le Joseray, Le Manchet, Le Chatelard, Le Daille and Le Laisinant.

Val d'Isere shares a vast ski area that is probably the ultimate in piste and powder pleasure; reliable snow, wide open spaces, efficient lifts and infinitely varied terrain. From the nursery slopes in the middle of the resort, beginners progress to easy runs above the treeline. Stronger performers tackle the infamous Solaise bumps and the Face de Bellevarde, one thousand vertical metres of sustained excitement. Behind Bellevarde there are easy pistes down to the outpost of La Daille, alternatively reached by free bus. La Daille's Funival lift is the best departure point for Tignes and the magnificent slopes of the Grande Motte glacier or the long tour to Les Brevieres, a great place for lunch.

As well as swimming and an ice rink Val d'Isere has a gym, cinema, snowmobiling, quad and ice driving and parapenting. Specialist food shops offering traditional regional produce abound.

Val d'Isere's nightlife starts early and finishes late. Join the young crowd for live music at the Moris pub or scrum practice at Cafe Face before moving to Dick's Tea Bar, a hardy perennial of the Val d'Isere disco scene, or try The Pacific Bar, considered by many to be simply the best bar in Val D'Isere, just the place for a great night out.

There is an excellent choice of restaurants; renowned seafood at Perdrix Blance, Alpine specialities at the 300 year old Le Chalet du Cret or Vieille Maison; French and Oriental cuisine at Le Toit du Monde in La Daille, and Bar Jacques for good food at all hours.

Being a nanny in Val D'Isere is a demanding, yet very rewarding job! You live and work with a team of like minded people based in one hotel for the season. You look after the children of the families staying in the hotel, therefore you do not need the local language as the families are all English speaking. Nannies care for children between 4 months and 12 years of age. They are grouped according to age and you are allocated one of these groups. You then have sole charge of these children for a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities ranging from story telling to building snowmen. Whatever age group you are with, there's sure to be plenty of time on the slopes.

Nannies introduced by Jobs In Demand Childcare will be working in one of 4 hotels at the Val D'Isere resort. It is 11/2 hours from Gatwick to Geneva and a further 31/2 hours transfer to your appointed hotel. Basic shared accommodation is provided and nannies are responsible for housekeeping to their rooms.

Jobs In Demand Childcare recently checked out the Cygnaski, a chalethotel in the resort. The Cygnaski has spacious public areas including a pine panelled dining room and small separate bar. By using the free resort bus service, the Cygnaski is 5 minutes from La Daille lifts and 10 minutes from Le Fornet lifts and nursery slopes. A few minutes walk away is the bustling centre of Val d'Isere with its excellent shops, cafes and buzzing apres-ski venues.
